When Information is King

Everyone would agree that every licensed asbestos removal contractor needs a constant source of informed updated information regarding legislation changes and how the enforcing authorities may change the way they view events on site or what they are looking for when they call on a site for compliance inspection visits, currently  the ALU will inform contractors of various changes / refinements / requirements to codes of practice and guidance by way of ALG memo’s and by way of the web communities bulletins, (for this months issue we have included two ALG memos which are already available on the HSE Asbestos communities website, but we feel that contractors need to be aware of their content).

How many asbestos removal contractors can honestly say that they are aware of every change or modification of ALU guidance and codes of practice when they are first issued?

It is likely that only the minority rather than the majority of asbestos contractors are aware of any changes as soon as they happen, this is a situation which if allowed to linger could lead to an asbestos contractor falling foul of the enforcing authorities through ignorance of the legislation (remember: Ignorance of change is no excuse for non compliance with legislation.)
